How the round works
A round of The Rhyme Game uses four-beat bars, drawn as four cells. The ball bounces across them in time with the music, and a single target word is shown for each bar. Beat four — the gold cell — is the answer beat. Your job is to land a word that rhymes with the target word in that moment.
Each bar is scored on two independent things: whether you rhymed, and how quickly you answered. A correct rhyme answered in the first half of the bar scores the full 100 points. A near rhyme scores half. A word that does not rhyme scores nothing, however fast it arrives.
Difficulty and word hints
Difficulty widens or tightens the timing window: Easy is forgiving, Expert demands near-perfect placement. Word hints control how much of the rhyme sequence is revealed before each bar — All shows every target word up front so you can plan rhymes, None reveals each word only when its bar begins. Each difficulty suggests a hint level, and you can set either freely in advanced settings.
Rhyme is judged by sound, not spelling
English spelling is a poor guide to rhyme. Love rhymes with above and not with move; heart rhymes with start; bread rhymes with head. The game therefore resolves rhyme from pronunciation data rather than from how a word is written, so those pairs behave the way your ear expects. Near rhymes are accepted at half credit when they share the stressed vowel but end differently — time and line, for instance.
